Quench, Pickle, and Inspect Your Soldered Joint

Submerge the item in warm pickle solution with copper tongs and soak it for 5 to 10 minutes. This process removes flux residues and oxidation that may have formed during soldering. Avoid using steel tools for pickling, as they can contaminate the acid, so keep your copper tongs clean and dedicated for this purpose. Prolonged soaking for over 2 hours can damage solder joints, so monitor the time carefully. After pickling, rinse the piece in a baking soda solution, then rinse again with clean water and dry completely.
Next, inspect the joint under magnification. Look for uniform solder flow and smooth edges, ensuring there are no rough patches or missed spots.
